How Leaders Describe a Typical Day at Work
At ChickTech, we bring in about 100 girls that have been nominated by their teachers because they have the aptitude and interest in technology, but might be lacking the opportunities to get involved. I provide them the opportunity to feel like they belong. I also host events to impact hundreds of women and girls.

It helps to have a knowledge of business in almost any field and can give you a different perspective on things. With this job, I get to live my dream by combining my love of flight with my business background. Your hobbies, pastimes, and career pursuits don't have to be mutually exclusive.
My experience as a teacher was invaluable in helping me start this nonprofit because I had insight on what educators expected from us and what they themselves needed. To start a nonprofit, you don't necessarily need to have a background in business. You should be well versed in the area, cause, or community you are looking to serve. It also helps to have "soft skills."

Middle School Students
I didn't figure out what I wanted to do until after I'd graduated from college, so I'd say that the earlier you gain access and exposure to new ideas, in business or elsewhere, the better. Getting the juices flowing by learning how to solve problems in new, creative ways, and participating in some form of civic engagement when you're in middle and high school is key to pursuing a fulfilling career down the road.
Doing volunteer work or babysitting from a young age will greatly improve your people skills. This also works as a great trial run to help you find out if you actually enjoy educating children, or if it's just something that you thought you might like.
