Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
You don't have enough experience.
How I responded:
When I first tried to get into education, I was told I did not have enough experience. I did not get discouraged by what I heard—I took it as advice and went and got some experience in the accounting field that would transfer to the classroom.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I had no guidance from my parents or siblings since none of them attended college. I had no idea what I was doing, but I found that everyone in the college setting was willing to help. I just had to realize they were there to help me succeed!!
