Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
You don't have what it takes to be a leader
How I responded:
I didn't get angry or disappointed by what this person told me. Rather, I used their doubt as motivation to strive to be better. Instead of giving up on myself, I looked for ways I could improve and took every opportunity I could to advance my career. I sought a mentor, looked for guidance from my leadership team, and even got involved in coaching and the career development of my fellow associates.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
In an ever changing industry, roles come and go, and the needs of the business change. Make sure you're always available to learn new things, and always put yourself out there. You never know what opportunities are around the corner waiting.
