Was heading for a career in Communications. Wanted to become a journalist. I was working on a talk show where I was responsible for recruiting guests on opposing sides for various different topics.

The show ended. I liked the experience and tried some anchoring techniques at the studio on some late nights. I would read the scripts off of a teleprompter and present them to the camera (audience).

I felt like something was missing. Maybe the Communications/Broadcasting route is not what I am truly meant to do.

Somehow I tripped upon preschool job openings and that really sparked my interest. I felt this may be right up my alley as I have a ten year younger sister and many cousins who were younger than I.

When my sister was in preschool I used to love volunteering there and I got a chance to see how things were done. How the teachers made an impact (positive & negative-unfortunately).

The activities and interactions were always endearing to me. I felt a connection with all the children and all that they were doing. I used to take my younger sister to the library programs—

Story time, Mother Goose, Games & play, crafts. I would read, play games, and help my sister with homework. I loved watching and being involved in her growing into this amazing individual.

All of these experiences led me to my passion of being an educator. I realized the impact I could make in their lives and vice versa. I attended Early Childhood classes via my first preschool job.
