My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
I was born in the family that had a handicapped brother that always rolled out the red carpet for as I starved for the attention or recognition of my parents.
2.
In school I always wanted to try and be popular and I thought I was until after high school I found out that I wasn’t because nobody visited me.
3.
During my school years from middle school through high school and there after I was involved in drugs and running the streets with gang members.
4.
I knew deep in my heart that I was smart and better than the drugs or the streets. I listened to my heart and began a road to recovery.
5.
I listened to my heart and began a road to recovery.
6.
After relapsing one time I got up and tried recovery a 2nd time only this time I was determined. I walked back with a pen and paper and started writing notes on how to live without drugs and alcohol.
7.
I ended up going to LA trade tech and study labor law. I became an officer in my union. Wrote contract that is still today in use and became a highly respected leader.
8.
Today with the wisdom of my life I wish to help others with the emotional ups and downs that life can bring because the most important part of life is how we deal with it.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Parents:
I wasn’t worth my own salt.
How I responded:
Always listen to your inner voice that tells you that you are worth your salt. Don’t crumble when life gets hard or when discouraging words come your way. Always take the negative and turn it into something positive. Learn from those mistakes and grow to be better from them. Life will not be easy but if you learn how to deal with it instead crumbling over it, then life will be easier to understand and you’ll make better choices. Do all that you can do today because tomorrow is never promised.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Know you are better than the drugs are. Know in your heart you can be better. Listen to your heart telling you to be better. Take the 1st step and if you fall. Dust yourself off and get up and try again. Never give up! Life hasn’t given up on you!
