My path in life has been direct
1.
From the very beginning, I loved any and all sports.
2.
Through my many years of organized sports in elementary/high school, I learned the importance of hard work, commitment, dedication, and selflessness; always putting the team's goals above your own.
3.
In high school, I decided to take an accounting class. I was immediately interested in the material and proceeded to take every business class that my high school offered.
4.
I was accepted into the Smeal College of Business at Penn State to hopefully further my business education. However, I wanted to continue my athletic career into college...
5.
During my senior year of high school, I was offered a an opportunity to walk-on (i.e. no scholarship) to the Penn State Men's Basketball team.
6.
My Penn State athletic career provided me with some of the most valuable lessons of my life and taught me importance of positivity, sacrifice, and organization.
7.
I applied these life lessons to my academic career at Penn State which led me to apply and be accepted into the Integrated Masters of Accounting (MAcc) program.
8.
Leveraged my experiences gained through the MAcc program to intern and start full-time at KPMG. From there, I've learned something new each day and have been provided invaluable opportunities.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
You shouldn't go into public accounting, the CPA Exam requires too much studying and you work too many hours at a Big Four firm.
How I responded:
If I'm being completely honest, some of the above is true. The CPA Exam is difficult and requires dedication. During my time at KPMG, I have absolutely worked some long hours. But in the end, passing the CPA Exam and starting my career at KPMG have been two of the best professional decisions I have made to date. While the CPA Exam provides a strong foundation, KPMG has provided me with countless opportunities to grow my technical knowledge and professional skillset. The hard work is worth it!
