Life & Career Milestones
My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
As a kid, I was always artistic and good at drawing, but I knew I wanted to work in the computer industry.
2.
Graduated from a technical high school and enrolled as an applied studies of electrical and computer engineering major in Belgrade, Serbia—dropped out during my second semester.
3.
Worked a variety of jobs including as a sales associate in a retail computer shop, a part-time radio speaker, waited tables in Greece, and tended bar in my family’s pub.
4.
I decided to give myself one more shot and study something that would suit my artistic and technical talents, so I enrolled as a graphic design major.
5.
After graduation, I did a few internships before landing a job as a graphic designer in major computer retail.
6.
A friend invited me to work for a start-up as a side project and I realized I liked solving business problems and thinking about business through a design mindset.
7.
Worked my way up to become a design manager working on digital product design.
8.
Got a job working for Kontrast Design Studio as a product designer on projects related to the education industry, including doing UX design for Roadtrip Nation.

How I responded:
After dropping out of college and going back years later, I was older than all of the other students and the people that I was interning alongside. People my age were already mid-level and up employees and I was just starting out. I beat myself up about that and felt like I had come late to the party. I decided to forgive myself and knew that in the end, it didn't matter.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I ended up initially dropping out of college because I was failing and didn't end up going back until I was older. I had to find myself and figure out what I was truly interested in.
I've felt imposter syndrome before, mainly in regards to my age in school and getting started in my career later than most people. I sometimes felt like I didn't belong or wasn't doing well. I felt like I should've done this years ago.
