Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
It would be too difficult to successfully transition from the military to the private sector.
How I responded:
Do not assume the skills and experience you've gained in one industry are not transferrable. I can personally attest that the majority of the skills that I've needed to succeed throughout my career in the private sector, I learned during my nearly 10 years in the United States Air Force. In addition, I learned that its ok to ask for help, therefore, don't be afraid to lean on your personal and professional network for guidance.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Transitioning from the military to the private sector was challenging because I wasn't sure if I would able to relate to people who don't understand what military personnel have experienced. Working for a military friendly company made a difference.
