My path in life took a while to figure out

  • 1.

    I wanted to be a writer or a musician. I loved writing and playing music.

  • 2.

    I realized I might not be a rock star, so I decided to share my love of writing by teaching.

  • 3.

    I became a teacher and was bothered by inequality in school funding & student opportunities.

  • 4.

    I became a high-school principal fueled by my desire to expand access and equity in education.

  • 5.

    After 5 years as an administrator, I was exhausted and "burned out." My students deserved better.

  • 6.

    I left education and worked for an online entertainment company as a writer and editor.

  • 7.

    I got a call from a company asking if I would be interested in working in higher education.

  • 8.

    I have worked for them ever since, expanding access and equity in higher education.
