Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
You won't succeed without my help. You will never leave the neighborhood.
How I responded:
The opportunities you have should never limit the work ethic you show. I always told myself that if I worked harder than the person next to me, there would be no choice but to grant those opportunities to me. In a nutshell, my life's motto is: go out, work hard and create opportunities for yourself to get the results you want.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I was not the first in my family to go to college. However, I was the first to go away and experience life in college. The biggest hurdle was not knowing what to expect. I overcame that by slowing down, catching my breath and taking it easy.
