Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Society in general:

You should stick with one thing. You should stay in one place. You should make money. You absolutely must have a career plan and follow it to the bitter end. Always make more money.

  • How I responded:

Regardless how much "noise" you hear from the outside, your internal voice - the voice that reminds you who you really are, what you really want to do - will always be audible. It may be muffled, it may be difficult to discern - but that inside voice will guide you. Learn to tune in. Focus. Understand that nobody knows you better than you. Follow your voice. Ignore the noise. With practice, all you'll hear is that which comes from within. Trust it. Defend it. Never give up. It's never too late.
