Life & Career Milestones

My path in life has been direct

  • 1.

Knew that I wanted to be living / dancing in New York City.

  • 2.

Studied dance seriously from age 3.

  • 3.

Went to NYU for a conservatory-level training in Dance.

  • 4.

Fell in love with modern dance and made a lot of friends & contacts.

  • 5.

Simultaneously became involved as a college student in Hillel.

  • 6.

Graduated and began dancing and auditioning and also was offered a job at the Hillel.

  • 7.

Continued balancing these two, complimentary and parallel careers for five years!

Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Society in general:

You're not going to make a lot of money, and New York is an expensive city.

  • How I responded:

I knew that I would not have a glamourous or well-paid career as a dancer. I both kept my expectations about where I could live / what I could afford reasonable and found a supplementary career that supported me and did not keep me from rehearsals, auditions, or performing.
