My path in life has been direct
1.
I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Arizona State University in organizational communication.
2.
I followed those degrees up with a doctorate degree in educational leadership from the University of Texas at Austin.
3.
I built my career in education working in a variety of different sectors, but the red thread throughout my career has been helping more and more diverse students become successful in higher education.
4.
I’ve gained experience in K-12 education, community colleges and other higher education, and organizations like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
5.
I currently work as the president of National University, a nonprofit association of seven colleges focused on providing accessible and achievable higher education to adult learners.

Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I was a first-generation learner. If it wasn't for community college, I wouldn't be in the position I am now. I was able to find accessible education and pay my way through school in order to set myself up for success.
