Life & Career Milestones
I've taken a lot of twists and turns
1.
I was born in Honduras and grew up in Chicago, Illinois.
2.
I took to science and math pretty naturally, motivated by teachers who believed I could excel and pushed me to learn more—I decided to major in chemistry with the goal of becoming a pharmacist.
3.
When I was rejected from pharmacy school, I realized that I should probably put more thought and intention into my path—this ultimately led to me changing my major to biology.
4.
While in graduate school, I joined a computer class in geographic information systems on a whim—it clicked for me right away and I absolutely loved it.
5.
I stepped away from geographic information systems and spent a few years teaching science in Maryland.
6.
I eventually came back home to Charleston, South Carolina, and landed my first tech job as a GIS specialist, where I was able to learn to code and start my path as a GIS Developer.
7.
I’ve since been honing my skills in GIS and databases, web tools, and cloud technologies, which led to my position now as a Geospatial Application Developer for Blue Raster.
